BATTERY the Animation

Takumi Harada, a pitcher, meets Go Nagakura, a catcher.

Seiha wants to play baseball but Takumi says he can't; After Takumi throws a ball in the woods, Seiha doesn't come home that night.

Takumi starts attending Nitta Higashi Junior High and signs up to be on the baseball team; Coach Tomura sees Takumi pitch on his first day of practice, and tells Takumi to cut his hair.

Takumi discovers that Tomura is his grandfather Youzo's former student; Tomura goes to visit Youzo.

Takumi is ganged up on and beaten by a few of his teammates inside the equipment room; Go finds Takumi and brings him home to treat him; The school learns of the beating and the team faces punishment.

Tomura tries catching for Takumi; Tomura proposes an exhibition game with Yokoteni Junior High, but the principal says no.

Go has mixed feelings after Takumi didn't pitch as hard as he could against Yokoteni Junior High's slugger Kadowaki; Kadowaki visits his teammate and talks about wanting to play an unsanctioned game with Nitta Higashi.

Mizukaki tilts Takumi and Go's battery off their game and the game is called off after they offend Yokote's coach.

Kadowaki and Mizugaki play backyard baseball with the Nitta Higashi first years; Kaionji visits the team for the first time and sees Takumi pitch.

Kaionji and the other seniors graduate; the Nitta Higashi players do voluntary practice to prepare for their rematch; Go tells Takumi he is going to continue catching.

The day of the rematch arrives; Tomura, Youzo, Seiha and the principal come to watch.
