What this film will principally be remembered for, however, is the appearance of Marlon Brando, his first screen role - albeit only lasting about 15 minutes - in nine years.

At the center of the film, Donald Sutherland is perfectly cast and quietly effective as a man who will not be turned aside, who does not wish misfortune upon himself or his family, but cannot ignore what has happened...
A DRY WHITE SEASON is worth watching for the (sometimes painful) force of its truths and its perspective, which shows the effects of racism from both white and black standpoints.
