...a self-conscious black comedy from LA film-maker Gillian Wallace Horvat which is precariously balanced on the funny/annoying fulcrum.
Although righteous indignation drove the film’s inception, Horvat is careful to not make I Blame Society the kind of violent-but-sympathetic ‘girlboss’ narrative, where the protagonist lacks culpability...
The eventual twists might shock, but Horvat lands it all with a bruiser of an ending, as funny and scary as anything Hollywood itself has churned out in recent years.
Horvat is both hilarious and creepy as this exaggerated psychotic version of herself.
