Though it’s a bit rough around the edges, all involved clearly came to have fun and that infectious energy is palpable for the entire runtime.
...for those who have enjoyed Smith's previous movies and the world he has created, there are plenty of rewards in the characters who reappear and in the characters who seem to grow as much as they're growing old.
The layers of meta-references are impossible to count and any diehard Smith fan will undoubtedly revel in them.
