My Left Foot is a great film for many reasons, but the most important is that it gives us such a complete picture of this man's life.

...mother and child meet each other half way, the first of many scenes gently overflowing with the unspoken love between a mother and her child.

That MY LEFT FOOT succeeds as well as it does is in large part due to a superb supporting cast and the virtuoso performances of Hugh O'Conor and Day-Lewis, who play Brown as child and adult, respectively.
