Never revealing too much, Becker keeps us intrigued to the end, whilst Pacino and Barkin unexpectedly sizzle.

Writer Richard Price is a master at contriving sympathetic, believable characters. His dialogue here, the skewed, elliptical jargon of urban social maneuvering, is dead on.
