Based on real events, this unconventional family animation about a heroic hound is an easily digested history lesson.
I came into this film not expecting how much I would appreciate a more thoughtful use of animation to tell an engaging story.
You want to teach kids about the horrors of The Great War, a somewhat sanitized cartoon is a better way to do it than say, the grim realism of “War Horse.”
...cute enough to make younger kids want to learn more about the real dogs of war.
It has something for the whole family, is visually impressive with excellent animation, and a fantastic voice cast. What’s not to love?
