The Bounty

The legendary tale of William Bligh, whose cruelty forced his crew, led by his first mate Fletcher Christian, to mutiny and cast their overthrown leader, and those loyal to him, adrift in the Pacific.

The sea voyage is done with the sort of macho confidence that a good sea movie needs, and the land portions do an interesting job of contrasting the proper, civilized British (...) with the cheerful absolute freedom of Polynesia.

. This is the first time that a reasonably balanced version of this story has reached the screen, portraying Bligh as a competent sailor andcommander whose personality flaws make the conflict between him and his crew inevitable.
