Finney is a master at letting us glimpse the bruised heart of a man like Andrew Crocker-Harris, who has used his devotion to the classics to bury his own identity.
Finney, in fine form, hams it up wonderfully, reason enough to give this one a try.
The movie is civilized and literate, and Finney is suitably melancholy in the lead...
The most rewarding aspect of this new BROWNING VERSION is Albert Finney's expert, well-modulated performance as the anti-Mr. Chips. Finney even manages to make tolerable a maudlin crying scene in the middle of the story.
