The Cat's Meow

If there is any delight to be found in Peter Bogdanovich's relatively stiff The Cat's Meow it's the irony of Absolutely Fabulous alum Joanna Lumley being forced to skimp on the liquor.

Much of the fun is in the casting - Kirsten Dunst makes a vivacious Marion Davies, Edward Herrmann a convincing tycoon, Eddie Izzard a decidedly odd Chaplin.

...The Cat's Meow remains an engrossing delve into movie lore, with Dunst's poignant performance doing much to rehabilitate Davies' reputation.
