What works beautifully are the grace notes to the craft of acting...
It’s thanks to the skills of Malkovich (...), Close (...) and Stewart (...) that the movie ends up not a total yawn. They bring life to the characters in ways that give the trite story an unexpected but welcome emotional veracity.
The film’s vibe reminds me of some of the parfaits of early 1990s art-house cinema. There’s always a place for good acting, clever dialogue, and a sense of humor
