Finding food is the most immediate need for any animal. Food is the fuel that gives an animal strength to fight, or to flee. But in the Luangwa valley the dry season is at its height and the landscape has become cruel and barren.

The drive to reproduce is the one of the most primal forces in nature. It dictates how any given species will behave for most of its life. There are over a hundred thousand species of animal in Africa, so there are countless strategies to find a mate.

Zambia's Luangwa Valley is a vast wilderness. It may seem ageless and permanent but in reality it's in constant flux, influenced by the myriad of animals that call it home. Animals don't just live in a given environment, they help to shape it.
